The world is a dumpster fire.
Rent and healthcare goes up 10–30% in a year while wages stay the same. Human rights are actively being rolled back. Heat waves, floods, fires, and storms regularly disrupt daily life. Police budgets expand while social services shrink. Corporations are price-gouging. Genocides are funded.
And we’re told it’s on us. Just take a bubble bath. Manage our time and money better. Do yoga and meditate.
These solutions all keep the system intact, let institution off the hook, and make people feel like they’re failing at coping instead of naming what’s actually broken.
How can we truly look at all that is going on without shutting down and collapsing?
How do we still live our lives inside these harmful systems? Tend to our art, projects, joy without feeling guilty?
How do we stay up to date with the latest without harming ourselves?
What can we do? How can we effectively leverage the resources and privileged we do have to resist oppression?
I’m not alone in asking these questions.
Many social justice movements, teachers, and communities who practiced liberation long before I arrived. I won’t pretend I have the answers.
And here are some things I’ve experimented with:
starting my own radical, values aligned business that makes a living
heal my relationship with time to resist the orchestrated exhaustion, overwhelm, and freeze.
traveled to over 30 peoples to decenter myself and internalized white american dream
traded rest for labor while working on an off-grid family farm
spoken up when people are bigots
given back in terms of money, time
connected people
ran a friends brick and mortar business for 2 months without pay while they were dealing with a medical emergency
You’re probably already doing so many of these things.
And maybe you still feel like you could be doing more. Or better, differently. Or it could be easier and more effective.
Anti-oppression Life Coaching
A space to think, feel, and meander through the biggest question of all: how do we survive the machinery of white-supremacist capitalist patriarchy?
I want to be with you, holding the complexity of who you are, thaw and unfreeze our bodies, and use my creative solution oriented brain to identify, prioritize, try, and experiment with radical ways of living.
Because the world is a heavy place. Being human is fucking hard. We can’t fix it all, overnight. But we don’t have to do this alone. We can lean on each other and widen our radius of care.
Another way (and world) is possible.
